First off, let’s talk about the all-too-common “harder and harder” track. Sure, there are times when business calls for long hours. A new product launch? Probably going to have to put in some more time. Key employee quits suddenly? Yes, that’s a time to put in more hours to keep things moving. These situations shouldn’t come up very often once your business is established.
However, I’ve seen countless people over the years struggle time and time again with issues like these. They end up working a lot of hours simply because they don’t know there’s a way to work smarter not harder. Even when they’re making great sales and their business is profitable, they still work round the clock. Unfortunately, they don’t realize how much this is impacting their health and wellbeing.
Next, let’s talk about those pesky competitors “doing better than you.” First off, how do you REALLY know if they’re doing better? One thing I’ve realized over 40+ years is that successful business owners are aware of what their competition is doing but they’re not focused on it. They have a plan. They work that plan. They have goals and design their business to serve the market in a way where they can achieve these goals. This is counter-intuitive to most newer business owners. They spend their time trying to beat their competition instead of playing their own game.
Let me ask you a serious question.
“What’s the point of having a business if it isn’t designed to help you achieve your goals?”
Lastly, ever say to yourself, “I’m not sure why my vision isn’t turning into reality yet?” I’m sure when you started your business, you did it to achieve a dream. Maybe that dream has changed? Maybe you’ve already hit that goal and aren’t sure what’s next?
